Gelato is light-years ahead of ice-cream! If I had access to GOOD gelato I'd never eat ice cream again, you are correct there!
Best I've ever had: Nociolla (Hazlenut-esque) served in Asolo, Italy.

Ahh, gelato. If you ever come to Seattle, visit "Gelatiamo." My favorite gelato of all I only found at one place in Rome (not that it wasn't at other gelato shops, but I wasn't exactly overly familiar with the city): rizzo di mooro, or "black rice." It was a combination of rice and chocolate gelatos. Oh, it was so good. The closest I get to it now is Kozy Shack rice pudding and chocolate pudding in the same bowl.
